AGS Events and CMR secured pole positions for the two GT4 European Series races at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
Theo Nouet in the #31 Aston Martin claimed pole position for the first race of the weekend on a wet track, with Gael Castelli in the #8 Toyota claiming pole for race 2.
Qualifying 1 got underway at 11.10 local time and AGS Events driver Nouet put in quickest times right from the start. The treacherous conditions resulted in big gaps between the drivers as they lapped the 7.004 km track.
Nouet handled the situation best and put in a fastest lap of 2m47.618s right at the end of the session, with CMR’s Stéphane Lémeret taking second place at 1.663s. Xavier Lloveras qualified the #15 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG in third, ahead of Willem Meijer in the SRT Mercedes.
Fifth overall and taking the Am pole was Nicolas Gomar in the #89 AGS Events Aston Martin, followed by Jan Kasperlik in the #22 Allied Racing Porsche. With sixth place, Kasperlik also secored another Pro-Am pole position for the German team.
In the second qualifying session the #27 AGS Events Aston Martin led the ten minutes, but then the CMR Toyota GR Supra GT4s put in some fast times on the slippery circuit.
Eventually the battle for pole was settled in favor of CMR, with Gael Castelli claiming the overall and Silver Cup pole position. Teammate Antoine Potty improved as the flag came out, moving into second overall and first in Pro-Am.
Hasse-Clot will start the second race from third on the grid, ahead of the Lestrup Racing Team BMW of Alfred Nilsson. Gilles Vannelet qualified the #89 Aston Martin in fifth place and he will be joined on the third row by Yagiz Gedik in the #12 Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport BMW. Pro-Am points leader Bastian Buus missed out in Q2 and will start from 15th on the grid tomorrow.
