29 June 2019
Gabriele Piana moved to the head of the timesheets in the second practice of this weekend’s GT4 European Series round at the Misano World Circuit. The Italian set the pace in the early morning, lapping the 4.226 km circuit in 1:43.303.
Ending the second session at 0.102s further back in second place was yesterday’s fastest driver Duncan Huisman in the #69 V8 Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R, with the #15 NM Racing Team Ginetta G55 GT4 completing an overall and Pro-Am top three.
Paul Ricard race winners MDM Motorsport finished the session in fourth place overall, with the #25 BMW M4 GT4 of Alec Udell and Simon Knap posting the fastest laptime in the Silver Cup. The #61 Academy Motorsport Aston Martin of Tom Wood and Micah Stanley ended the session second in class, ahead of the #4 Leipert Motorsport Mercedes-AMG of Max Koebolt and Jan Kisiel.
The #16 True Racing KTM, #66 Bullitt Racing Mercedes-AMG and #9 CMR Alpine completed the Silver Cup top six, with Andy Meyrick putting his Bullitt Racing Mercedes tenth overall and fourth in class. Fastest in the Am class was Street Art Racing driver Clement Seyler.
A puncture for the #1 Phoenix Racing Audi of Nicolaj Møller-Madsen brought out the red flag early in the session, to allow for a safe recovery of the stranded vehicle. The session was restarted within a couple of minutes, with the Audi rejoining the session later on. A number of teams ended their session earlier than planned, reporting various temperature related problems.
Qualifying for the two races at the Misano World Circuit will get underway at 11.50 local time, with the lower ranked drivers starting in Qualifying 1 and the higher ranked drivers taking the wheel in Qualifying 2. Qualifying will be streamed live.
