V8 Racing driver Duncan Huisman topped the first practice session at Misano this afternoon, having set a fastest time of 1m44.445s. The Dutchman set the fastest lap in the opening minutes of the session, with none of the 66 other drivers taking part in the session able to beat the Chevrolet Camaro GT4.Rs time.

Stéphane Lémeret was second fastest overall and the fastest Silver Cup entrant in his first GT4 European Series practice with the CMR entered Alpine, followed by the #19 PROsport Performance Aston Martin of David Griessner. Lémeret and Griessner were just a tenth slower than Huisman.

Fourth fastest was Silver Cup points leader Benjamin Lessennes in the Equipe Verschuur McLaren, just six thousands of a second quicker than Patric Niederhauser in the True Racing KTM.

The RN Vision STS BMW M4 GT4 was sixth at the end of the one-hour session, with Gabriele Piana setting the second-fastest time in Pro-Am. Dominik Schraml completed the Pro-Am top three, putting the #777 Schwede Motorsport Mercedes in seventh place overall.

There were two brief interruptions during the session, the first -  a full cours yellow - after 22 minutes following a spin into the gravel by the #30 Selleslagh Mercedes at turn 4. Only a couple of minutes from the end of the session the #48 CMR Alpine, the fastest Am class car in the session, caused a red flag, after it came to halt on the pit straight.

After one hour in the blistering heat, the overall top 12 was separated by just one second. Today’s session saw temperatures reach 39ºC, with the track temperature reaching almost 50ºC. Lower temperatures are forecasted for tomorrow.

There have been a couple of changes to the entry list ahead of the opening practice session. The #18 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 was withdrawn by PROsport Performance, because of incident damage from last weekend’s Nürburgring 24 Hours. Micah Stanley replaces an unwell Fiona James in the #61 Academy Motorsport Aston Martin.

Action resumes tomorrow with the second free practice session at nine o’clock, followed by qualifying and Race 1. The qualifying session and races will be streamed live.
