Griessner and Sarhy complete PROsport Performance line-up
13 March 2019
The PROsport Performance squad for the GT4 European Series is complete with the announcement that 24-year-old Austrian David Griessner and 19-year-old Frenchman Jérémy Sarhy will join the German team.
Griessner and Sarhy join Florian Thoma and Akhil Rabindra, who were confirmed to race last week. The two PROsport Performance Aston Martin Vantage GT4s will compete in the Silver Cup of the GT4 European Series.
"We consciously rely on four young talents. That has always been part of the philosophy of PROsport Performance", explains team principal Christoph Esser. "David Griessner has attracted our attention in the VLN long distance championship at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and Jérémy Sarhy is the youngest in the quartet, and as the second-best rookie in the French Porsche Carrera Cup, he has left his calling card."
Griessner steps up to the GT4 European Series after winning the BMW M235i Racing Cup class of the VLN series in 2018.
"After winning the BMW M235i Racing Cup, it was a logical step for me to switch to GT4. The GT4 European Series is a strong championship, in which both the qualities of driver and team are in demand. I already know PROsport Performance from the VLN, so the contact came about. Their GT4 experience is enormous, I can only profit from that," said David Griessner.
Having raced in French national championships in recent years, Sarhy will also make his international debut in the GT4 European Series.
"A new team, a new car, a new team-mate, a new racing series with new circuits - a really big challenge awaits me and I'm really looking forward to it. Just the sight of the new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 really motivates me - what a great racing car. PROsport Performance knows the GT4 European Series through and through, which definitely benefits me and my team-mate," said Sarhy.
Both drivers will get to learn their new car during a four-day test session at the Barcelona circuit this week. PROsport Performance will use the official Aston Martin Racing development car in Spain, with its race cars set for delivery later this month.
