Darras and Vandenbalck complete Street Art Racing line-up
8 February 2019
Frenchman Julien Darras and Belgian Jamie Vandenbalck will share the wheel of the second Street Art Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the Silver Cup of the GT4 European Series.
Following the announcement of Swiss driver Pascal Bachmann and Luxembourg's Clément Seyler, the Belgian team has now confirmed its the line-up of its second Aston Martin.
"By forming this crew, we have achieved our objective. We will be represented in two categories: in the Am Cup by Pascal and Clément and in the Silver Cup by Julien and Jamie," said Street Art Racing team manager Damien Hellebuyck.
"Julien has been a member of the family for a year and a half and Jamie will allow us to find a Belgian driver in our ranks. We think that this duo has a real chance to shine in the overall standings while Pascal and Clément should play a prominent role in the Am Cup. I can’t wait for the beginning of the season!"
Darras remains with the Belgian team, but will step up to the Silver Cup, having raced together with Bachmann in the Pro-Am class in 2018.
"I am happy to team up with Jamie and I hope we can aim for podium positions in the overall standings. I had the opportunity to test the new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 during its development phase and I enjoyed it," said Darras.
"Compared to its predecessor, I found it to be a much more precise car, particularly with its incisive front axle. We will have to work well with the whole team to find the right settings as soon as possible. I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of the car!"
After two seasons in a KTM X-Bow GT4 and one with the BMW M4 GT4 of 3Y Technology, Jamie Vandenbalck will join Darras in the new Aston Martin Vantage GT4.
"Following a 2018 season that did not meet my expectations, I was looking to find myself in a good frame of mind for 2019. I think I have found it with Street-Art Racing. Having Maxime Martin as a coach will also be a plus for us. I am convinced that I can learn a lot from him, not only for my driving but also for the development of the car and all the preparation outside races," said Vandenbalck.
"I also want to confirm this with results and I hope that we will be able to win races. For this, the preparation will be important and I look forward to getting to know the team during our Team Building. We will be ready when we arrive in Monza... and highly motivated!"
