Equipe Verschuur fastest again in second practice at Nürburgring

Equipe Verschuur completed a clean sweep of Friday practice ahead of this weekend's GT4 European Series season finale by setting the pace in the second practice session this afternoon.

The #10 McLaren 570S GT4, that had also topped the first session, outpaced the rest of the field by more than a second. Scottish driver Finlay Hutchison secured the top spot with a fastest lap of 2:05.304.

His fastest time was 1.220s faster than that of Mike David Ortmann in the #104 PROsport Performance Porsche Cayman PRO4 and a further 0.013s quicker than Pierre-Alexandre Jean in the #35 CMR Alpine A110 GT4.

Will Tregurtha and Stuart Middleton were the highest ranked Silver Cup title contenders in Free Practice 2. The HHC Motorsport drivers were fifth fastest, with Phoenix Racing's Milan Dontje and Nicolaj Møller-Madsen 17th fastest overall. Simon Knap and Max Koebolt set the 20th fastest time with their BMW M4 GT4.

Gaps behind the pace-setting McLaren were very close, with second to tenth place separated by less than three tenths of a second. Jules Szymkowiak, who shares the #77 Racing One Audi R8 LMS with Pro-Am title contender Markus Lungstrass was 22nd fastest overall, just a second behind Ortmann. Pro-Am oints leaders Marc Basseng and Phillip Bethke were tenth fastest.

Fastest in Pro-Am in Free Practice 2 was the #7 Street Art Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Julien Darras, followed by the #60 Academy Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT4 in the hands of Matt Nicoll-Jones. Duncan Huisman completed the Pro-Am top three with the #9 Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R.

Niki Leutwiler put the #222 Porsche Zentrum Oberer Zürichsee by TFT Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 CS MR on top in the Am class, once again showing he's determined to clinch the title in the first race of this weekend. His rivals, Giuseppe Ghezzi and Alessandro Giovanelli were second fastest, followed by the CMR Alpine of David Loger and Eric Mouez.
